Preparation

Cleanse and numb

A double cleanse, then topical numbing for 20–30 minutes. This is what makes the treatment comfortable, and we do not rush it.

The needling pass

Zone by zone, depth adjusted for each area. Most clients describe a light vibration and a sandpapery feeling along the jaw and forehead. Around 20 minutes.

Serum, mask, and LED

Your selected serum is worked into freshly opened channels, followed by a cooling mask and LED to settle redness.

A good candidate if you

  • Have texture, scarring, or fine lines as your primary concern
  • Can commit to a series rather than a single visit
  • Will wear SPF daily and avoid sun during the course
  • Have any Fitzpatrick skin type — it is safe across the range

Not right now if you

  • Are pregnant or nursing
  • Take isotretinoin, or stopped less than six months ago
  • Have active acne, eczema, psoriasis, or infection in the area
  • Have a history of keloid scarring
  • Are freshly sunburned or heavily tanned

Questions

Does microneedling hurt?
With topical numbing applied for 20 to 30 minutes beforehand, most clients rate it a two or three out of ten. The forehead, hairline, and jaw are the most sensitive areas. It is a vibration and a scratchy sensation rather than sharp pain.
How many sessions do I need?
Three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for most concerns. Acne scarring typically needs six or more. We give you a specific plan at consultation rather than a generic package.
How long is the downtime?
Visible redness for 24 to 48 hours and light flaking around days three to five. Most clients book Thursday or Friday so the redness settles over the weekend.
When will I see results?
An initial glow within a week, firmer and smoother skin at four to six weeks, and the fullest change to scarring and fine lines at three to six months as collagen remodels.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. Because microneedling works mechanically rather than with heat or light, it is considered safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types, with a lower pigmentation risk than many laser options.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes, with correct spacing. Dermaplaning before a series preps the surface well, and hydrating facials in between keep the barrier strong. We sequence it so nothing overlaps badly.
What should I avoid before my appointment?
Retinoids and acids for five days, waxing and exfoliation for a week, sun exposure and self-tanner for a week, and blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil for a few days if your doctor agrees.
